Stroke Survivor

Thursday, December 14th, 2006

My mom had a stroke in the spring of this year and her medicines that she has to take are so expensive we really need a discount or something to help her buy it. She has no health or prescription plan so we are just trying to find some way to get the medicine that she needs.

Help With Medications

Wednesday, December 13th, 2006

Last year I ended up with pneumonia and now I have severe emphysema and need help paying for all the medicine I now need. I cannot work and have to have oxygen. I am not 65 yet, so I cannot get Medicare. It is very hard to make ends meet and I have also been fighting to get disability and was denied the first time around and have reapplied. I have a hard time even getting around when I try and go for a walk.

Dealing With Diabetes

Friday, December 8th, 2006

I recently lost my insurance because of complications with diabetes…this of course means losing my insurance. Suddenly I have to pay for all my doctors’ visits, insulin, medicine…everything. I need help. I only have 1 more insulin pen left and with no job and no family that’s able to help, I don’t know what to do.

No Health Coverage

Friday, December 8th, 2006

I had suffered a cranial hemorrhage last July, was off work for several months. I went back to work in a different position, that I thought I could handle. I stayed for two months and had to go back on medical leave. I ended up being let go from my position due to poor job performance and excessive absenteeism. I had worked there for 17 years. I became a different person. Depression hit me so hard I felt I couldn’t function anymore. My income was cut in half. I was able to draw unemployment. My current expenses, not counting the 10 prescriptions that I take monthly, left me $300.00 dollars in the red every month. I relied on credit cards, which I can’t pay now. I have my brother as power of attorney, because of the severe confusion I suffer. I can’t remember to pay my bills. I have bounced several checks. I have to file bankruptcy to clear the credit debt. I have applied for other discount programs, which help. I currently receive $29 dollars in food stamps monthly. I have been skipping some of my meds to make them last. I take 3 blood pressure meds, and I fear I will have another brain hemorrhage if I cannot get the meds that I need. I was hospitalized for 2 months, now with no health coverage, that would be a devastation to me to end up back in the hospital
