No Money for Medicine

Friday, December 22nd, 2006

I am 52 years old and I don’t have money to buy my medication. My husband is on disability and I have Fibromyalgia. I have applied for a Medicaid care which that did me no good. They gave me a spend-down of $370.00 a month. Before I can get any assistance, I have to pay $370.00 each month. I need my medicines so bad. I’m out of everything because I can’t afford it or to even go to the Dr. My Doctor is a specialist in Kc and my migraine medicine alone is $643.00 for twelve tubes. I need my Cymbalta bad. I have been crying all week and feel like I’m ready to snap. Please help me to be able to afford my medicine so I can get some peace. I can’t sleep and they had me on Ambien for 2 years and now I’m awake and sick. Please help me if you can. God Bless

My Breathing Condition

Thursday, December 21st, 2006

My name is Brenda T and I live in Stonewall, MS. I don’t have any health insurance and my job where I work never had any. You see I used to work in a hospital until chemicals got in to my lungs and now I have asthma and can’t get medicine for it because I don’t have health insurance.
I also have an enlarged heart that makes me so tired, so if you all will please help me so I can get some treatments so I can live a long time. Thank you very much

Adams Story

Thursday, December 21st, 2006

I am writing this on behalf of my son Adam. He is soon to be 24 years old and has been on the receiving end of a very unfortunate situation. About 2 years ago, he was injured on the job, in that he fell off of the back of a truck and onto the claws of a Bobcat lift.

He was forced to settle about 6 months ago with workers comp for a very small amount of money, which he has literally lived on and is now out of money. He had pitiful legal representation in that they were not working in his best interest and just wanted him to settle so as to close that case, get their cut and move onto the next case. Now he is with out medical care, no insurance and cannot work. He has 3 herniated disks, a syrinx and he is clinically and medically depressed and is hopefully awaiting a second attempt to be approved for social security disability.

Meanwhile, he has been prescribed Lyrica, which helps him tremendously, and now he is soon to be out of the medication. We are desperate. We can provide the necessary medical documentation that this story has not been exaggerated. Any help will be counted as a HUGE Blessing. Sincerely,

Cappi D. on behalf of Adam D., Port Charlotte, Florida

Lost Coverage

Wednesday, December 20th, 2006

I worked for the city government for fifteen years. After I retired, I was getting prescription drug from the DC-37 union. My coverage was dropped and now I am left with no coverage for my maintenance drugs for hypertension and elevated cholesterol. My wife has hypothyroid and heart condition of aortic insufficiency. I am in a panic situation. Any help to alleviate this situation will be highly appreciated.

Food or Medicine

Monday, December 18th, 2006

I’ve been disabled since 1983. I did all I could with a lot of determination to work ~ some years I could, others I couldn’t ~ sometimes part time was OK. Finally in 2003 my body & brain said “NO MORE” I was in bed for a year, and house bound in a robe for the second year, sleeping 12 hours a day. It has taken 2 years of medication, physical therapy, at least 8 doctors to get me to the point where I am now. I have good days & bad days. I need to continue with my PT & medications to keep me going the little bit that I can. I am grateful to be out of bed and not housebound all the time. I can get out mainly to doctors and do a bit of grocery shopping. For the last 3 years we’ve run in the “red”. In the early part of 2005, my husband became very ill & lost his job & he is just now thinking he can try to find part time work. We have to choose between medicine & food all the time, our car is becoming a death trap & we can’t afford to replace it. Our outside doors are getting holes in them & we can’t replace them.
